Autumn wedding theme : Rustic chic menu

When it’s about fall weddings we have to say that we enjoy the food as much all other things…if summer menu is all about refreshments and light food the fall menu brings us something more hearty. In that case you can fill it even with salads.
So speaking about starters salad is still an option but adding a seasonal element to your greens with aged cheddar, roasted walnuts, pumpkin seeds, grapes, or figs. Today many couples are optioning a soup for a starter so consider squash bisque served in little pumpkins, or butternut squash soup ladled over crumbled blue cheese. If you want to have your salad and eat your soup too, serve each guest mini-portions of both. Put the salad on one end of a rectangular plate and a small tureen of soup on the other. Seafood-based starters are also very popular, but you can bypass the standard crab cakes in favour of smoked salmon or fish mousse.
Main courses
For a fall menu, you’ll want to swap out the lighter options like fish and chicken for a heartier entrée like lamb or pork. Rack of lamb served with mashed potatoes and candied carrots and roasted pork with spiced apples are both traditional autumn dishes that would be a firm favourite at any fall wedding. Other favourites include comfort food such as shepherd’s pie. For the vegetarians, consider offering a wild mushroom risotto or a pumpkin and butternut squash ravioli.
Sweets our favourite part
As you may have noticed, alternative desserts aside from the traditional wedding cake have become very trendy in weddings today. The best way to incorporate Autumn flavours such as pumpkin, cinnamon, apple, caramel and spices in your wedding desserts is by having a dessert bar with an assortment of goodies. Stay within a similar realm of desserts by offering apple pie, pecan pie or pumpkin cheesecake.. You can also offer mini desserts such as donuts, brownies and cookies and have ice cream in delicious fall flavours such as pumpkin, caramel spice or butter pecan. There’s endless possibilities when it comes to Autumn wedding desserts!
